Sabbath

Psalm 92 is a psalm that is traditionally read to begin the Sabbath. READ PSALM 92 OUT LOUD AS A GROUP, two or three times. Use a different translation each time.

Spend 2 minutes in silent prayer. As you breathe deeply, silently ask God:

“When did I last enjoy Your Presence?”

After this, invite someone to close in prayer.

Q1 – What did God reveal to you during the silent prayer? Has it been a long time since you enjoyed God’s Presence?

Q2 – The psalm invites us to delight in God through both extraordinary and ordinary moments of life.

  • How can you "drink deeply from the well" of your everyday life and find God’s presence in it?
  • What might this look like practically for you? READ OUT LOUD AS A GROUP: Hebrews 4:4-11

DISCUSS – “Rest begins to feel like sin when work becomes your idol.”

  • What lies do you believe about yourself when you try to rest?
  • How do those lies hinder you from entering God’s rest?

Q4 – Sometimes we struggle to rest because we see God as more of a coach than a Father.

  • What false beliefs about God’s character might be holding you back from resting in Him?
  • What experiences in your past might have shaped those beliefs?

Q5 – How do you personally enjoy and delight in God? Do you prioritize implementing these times into your week?

CHALLENGE:
Over the next 7 weeks, we’ll prepare for Church at Home, where the entire church will be invited to practice the Sabbath together. Your challenge is to begin experimenting with Sabbath day in your own life and within your group
