READ OUT LOUD AS A GROUP: Hebrews 4:12-5:4. Read it two or three times as a group. Use a different translation each time.

Spend 2 minutes in silent prayer. As you do, imagine the weight of our sin resting on Jesus – the only person who could ever lift it. Notice what feelings or thoughts arise. After two minutes, have someone close in prayer.

Q1 – How have you seen the Word of God be “alive and active” in your life and not just words on a page? Share specific stories.

Q2 – When you think about the Word of God does it feel more like an instrument of judgment or an instrument of transformation? Is there any sin or shame that influences those feelings? Is your view now different than it used to be?

“LET THE SCRIPTURE STUDY US”

READ OUT LOUD AS A GROUP:
Genesis 3:1-13

  • What is your reaction to this passage?
  • How did the enemy deceive in this passage and what agreements were made?
  • What lies have you been deceived by, or agreements have you made with the enemy?

DISCUSS: “God’s Word over you = mercy for your shame.”

  • Q3 – God will not heal what we keep hidden. Is there anything in your life that needs to be brought into the light?
  • Q4 – What words have you allowed to be spoken over your life? Whose words are you believing right now? What words have you allowed to have authority over your life?
  • DISCUSS: “God’s Word in you = grace for your sanctification.”

Q5 – How does your time with the Lord need to change this week to get the Word in you so that you know the word spoken over you?
  • CHALLENGE:
    • Memorize Scripture together! Choose 1 passage or verse as a group to memorize together by the end of the week. Plan on reciting it together the next time you meet as a group. Set reminders on your phone to help you memorize and practice throughout the day.
    • Over the next few weeks, we’ll prepare for Church at Home, where the entire church will be invited to practice the Sabbath together. Your challenge is to begin experimenting with Sabbath day in your own life and within your group. Experiment with your own Sabbath rhythms—commit to intentionally practicing Sabbath at least a few times before Church at Home on Sunday, March 30th.
