Begin group time with 2 minutes of silent prayer. Assume a comfortable position and repeat the phrase “Come Holy Spirit” to yourself as you breathe. If your mind wanders, that's okay—simply notice it, repeat the phrase, and return your focus. After the silence, invite someone from the group to close in prayer.

READ OUT LOUD AS A GROUP: Hebrews 2:5-18

Q1 - So many of us struggle to see our worth the way Jesus does. What truths about how Jesus sees you feel hardest to believe right now? Speak the lies out loud and then rebuke them with truth from Scripture.

Q2 - There is a difference between believing in God’s mercy and fully receiving it. Is there an area in your life where you need to receive His mercy so you can fully embrace your worth? How can you leverage your value for others?

Q3 - Sin distorts our ability to live out our God-given purpose, but we’re still called to take dominion in the world. What specific gifts, burdens, or passions has God given you that He might be calling you to use in this season of life?

Q4 - Suffering is an invitation to intimacy with God, yet it often feels like an obstacle. What is the biggest barrier for you in experiencing God’s presence during suffering? How can you take a step toward inviting Him into your pain this week?

Q5 - “Most Christians live completely unaware of their eternal worth in Jesus and their call to suffer and die, and why it’s a good thing.” What does this mean to you personally? Is anyone in the group walking through suffering right now? How can we come alongside you in this?

Q6 - “Jesus’ atoning sacrifice takes away our fear of death.” How do you balance the desire to faithfully live out the work God has for you here with the hopeful expectation of eternity with Him in glory?

Q7 - In which areas of your life are you the most vulnerable to sacrifice your worth for the sake of short-term satisfaction and comfort?

Q8 - If Jesus is our help to navigate suffering and death, how can you learn to lean on him when you are being tempted?

CHALLENGE:

This week, we want to challenge you to carve out intentional time to deeply engage with Hebrews 3. Miles shared a powerful example of how Dr. Bruce Lowe, his seminary professor, encouraged students to wrestle with Hebrews 1 and 2 by reading the passage repeatedly for 30 minutes to an hour until the author's purpose became clear.

We’re inviting you to do the same with Hebrews 3. Set aside 30-60 minutes in a quiet space. Read through the chapter slowly and repeatedly, asking questions like:

  • What is the author emphasizing here?
  • How does this chapter connect to what I’ve already read in Hebrews 1 and 2?
  • What is the Holy Spirit revealing to me about Jesus, about myself, and about how I should respond?
