Read: Acts 21:17-36; Galatians 1:10

  1. Follow up from last week: How was your time asking the Lord to search and know your heart? Were you convicted of any areas of life that you have not yet entrusted to Him? Were you surprised by the realization of something that you have not yet surrendered?
  2. Share a time when you chose to compromise your values or actively walk in disobedience in order to gain the approval of those around you.
  3. When making decisions, where do you first seek wisdom? What are the most powerful voices in your life apart from God?
  4. While seeking to minister to the people of Jerusalem, Paul is met immediately with rumors and false assumptions that lead to his arrest. In a culture dominated by the influence of the crowd, how can you pursue trustworthiness in your relationships and actions?
  5. Discuss: “For Paul, there is an allegiance shift not just from darkness to light, but an inner shift from living for the approval of others to the approval of One.
    1. Approval ultimately stems from identity. Have you fully allowed the love of God to fill your desire to be valued and esteemed? What aspects of your identity are you still seeking to find in the eyes of the world?
  1. Challenge: Spend a set period of time in solitude with the Lord. Meditate on the words of Psalm 145 and create space for your Heavenly Father to speak. Listen that you may be more deeply connected to His voice and His love.
