READ: Luke 24:13-35. Invite different group members to read the passage
out loud, two or three times. Each time, use a different Bible translation.
Spend 2 minutes in silent prayer. As you sit with the passage, picture yourself on the road, walking with Jesus unrecognized.
After two minutes, have someone close in prayer.
Q1 – What stood out to you during the prayer? A word? A feeling? A detail you’ve never noticed?
Q2 – What did Easter look like for you this year? Was it joyful, chaotic, quiet, complicated? Who were you with, and were you tempted to perform or pretend this Easter?
DISCUSS: DREAM → DEATH → REBIRTH
Q3 – What’s a dream that you had for your life, relationships, family, or calling, that hasn’t unfolded how you imagined?
Q4 – What have been some of the disappointments (deaths) you have encountered through your discipleship to Jesus? Moments of loss, confusion, or unmet expectations? What part of your faith was challenged in that season?
Q5 – Where in your life right now might Jesus be inviting you not to walk away, but to trust Him for a rebirth?
POINT 1 – Is your hope anchored to the resurrection of Jesus?
Q6 – Where in your life have you attached your hope to an outcome,
relationship, healing, or success, and not to Jesus Himself?
Q7 – What would it look like for you to re-anchor your hope to the resurrection, not just in word, but in the way you face each “ordinary” day? What would need to change in your rhythms and habits this week?
POINT 2 – Is your heart burning with the promises of Scripture? Q8 – Which promises of Scripture have sustained you when life
made no sense?
THIS WEEK’S READINGS:
Close group time by speaking these promises of God out loud together as an anchor for your hope:
- God Is Faithful to Forgive and Cleanse (1 John 1:9)
- God Sustains the Weary (Isaiah 40:29)
- God Brings Peace That Surpasses Understanding (Philippians 4:7) - God is near to the Brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18)
Take time to sit with these passages, return to them daily, and let them shape your prayers, questions, and conversations this week.
