Matt Bruner

Head of School

In his 25th year of education, Matt has held a variety of classroom and leadership positions within the field of elementary education. After a few years near his alma mater of Purdue University, he and his wife decided to chase a dream to move to Southwest Florida and accep positions at the prestigious Edison Park Creative and Expressive Arts school in Fort Myers. Matt went on to teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades over the next several years.

After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Matt went on to become an Assistant Principal, a role which he held for eight years at an PreK - 5th grade International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program school. With family in Auburn, Matt and his family made frequent visits to the area and were blessed to meet the Head of School at Lee-Scott Academy. Soon after, his family made the decision to move when offered the position of Principal of the Lower School at LSA, which he held for four years.  It is during this time that he and his family become active members of Auburn Community Church.

After becoming involved with the special needs students and families in the area, God opened a door to join Auburn City Schools as Principal at Auburn Early Education Center. During these 5 years, he and Pastor Miles had several discussions about education, spiritual formation, and the power that would come from combining the two to serve children and families. In August of 2023, Matt came on staff at ACC to begin building ACC Academy. This opportunity has allowed him to combine his passions of education and spiritual formation while growing God’s Kingdom.

Matt holds an Educational Specialist degree from Auburn University and is completing his dissertation in Auburn’s Educational Leadership PhD program. Matt is married to Linda, an academic advisor in Auburn’s College of Human Sciences, and they have 2 daughters- Marin and Linden. Outside of work, they enjoy serving with ACC, traveling, boating, fishing, hiking, and squeeze it all in around the girls’ gymnastics and soccer events.

Matt is looking forward to this mission and the impact the Academy will have on the children and families in our community.
