From a young age, Kayla McCary has had a heart for children and a deep sense that working with them was a calling from the Lord. When asked as a little girl what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would confidently reply, “I want to teach kids about Jesus.” At the time, she didn’t fully understand what that meant or what it would look like—but even then, it was clear that God was planting something special in her heart.
Kayla went on to attend Auburn University, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. While teaching kindergarten for two years in Homewood, Alabama, she fell in love with the classroom—but also began to feel a deeper pull toward ministry within education. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in School Counseling through the University of West Alabama and working toward her LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) certification. Her desire is to walk alongside children through whatever they may face, always pointing them back to the hope of Christ.
Now entering her third year in education, Kayla is passionate about cultivating a classroom that feels safe, joyful, and full of purpose. She wants each student to know they are deeply loved, not just by her, but by their Creator. Her greatest hope is that her students would leave her classroom not only having learned well, but knowing their worth is found in Jesus Christ alone. She strives to build a strong class family where every child feels seen, celebrated in their wins, and supported in their struggles.
Outside of school, Kayla enjoys spending time with her friends and family, working out, reading, or going on long walks while listening to worship music or a good podcast. She also proudly cheers on the Auburn Tigers in any and every sport and will never miss a chance to defend the Houston Astros and her Texas roots! Kayla is incredibly excited to be joining ACC Academy and is expectant for all that the Lord has in store this school year
